Birth Support Offerings

Physical Support

We will discuss and implement your preferred physical aspects of support. Physical support is provided before, during and after birth. This could look like body scanning, gentle stretching sessions, conversation around perinatal nutrition, foot rubs or mild walks prenatally, comfort measures during labor, or a healing postpartum bath.

Mental Support

We will have several conversations around mental health as well as discuss and document all of your birthing preferences. We will review evidence-based research and best shared practices to ensure that you are armed with a foundation of knowledge leaving you confident in your options and informed in your choices surrounding labor and delivery.

Emotional Support

We will discuss all the ways that I can be there for you emotionally during this time. Your emotional wellbeing is of the utmost importance and consideration during the pregnancy, labor and postpartum phases. We will talk through joys and fears, journal together, or explore other options to move negative emotions through the body.

Scope of Practice

Doulas are not medical providers and cannot medically advise, diagnose illness or injury, treat illness or injury, or prescribe medication. A doula does not take the place of your doctor or midwife. A doula bridges the gap in systemic care by providing resources and support throughout your perinatal journey.

Spiritual Support

Dia The Doula respects all cultures and belief systems and the paths by which you arrived at them. We will discuss what practices and elements can be integrated into your birth to make it a more sacred experience for you. This could include symbolism, blessings/prayers/chants, singing or whatever can be accommodated

A Holistic Approach

Dia The Doula is dedicated to following a holistic approach to support care. The term "holistic" is defined by Oxford dictionary as " the belief that the parts of something are interconnected and can be explained only by reference to the whole.". In our season together, we will be looking at ways to support your WHOLE wellbeing.
